The City of Westerville is hiring a full-time Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Director.
For more than 10 years, Westerville has been intentional in its development of a diversity action plan that fully addresses our commitment to recruitment and inclusion, while building awareness and support in our community and providing opportunities for partnerships, public spending and more. Since 2019, this work has culminated in Non-Discrimination and Ethnic Intimidation and Source of Income Discrimination legislation adopted by Westerville City Council.
Westerville’s plan promotes an environment of gender, generational, racial, religious and ethnic diversity to position us as a leading community of inclusion and equity in Central Ohio. Home to events and organizations like Community Culture Day, the MLK Legacy Project, 4th Friday Global Bazaar/Hands Across Westerville and many more, Westerville has demonstrated a strong commitment to community engagement and public education.
But there is more to do. Council’s policies seek to enrich and broaden the talents, skills and abilities among our workforce, including thoughtful analysis on internal policies along with building alliances with external organizations confronting racism.
The DEI Director will bridge the gap between the City’s internal programs and external efforts. From training to purchasing to representation and programming, the Director will connect people to services and services to results.
