Amelia Bean-DeFlumer has been appointed City of Delaware Prosecutor after having served five months as the interim prosecutor.

Bean-DeFlumer brings extensive trial experience to the position, in the Delaware Municipal Court, where she has prosecuted cases since 2018, and prior to that for five years in the
Delaware County Prosecutor’s Office.

Bean-DeFlumer was installed as acting prosecutor in September 2019 after Natalia Harris left the Justice Center for City Hall to become City Attorney for Delaware. During her five months overseeing the office, Bean-DeFlumer effectively worked with Municipal Court staff, the Clerk’s office and law enforcement despite the ongoing pandemic.

“I am excited for the opportunity to continue to lead the Prosecutor’s Office,” BeanDeFlumer said. “The work of the office continues, and the job of the courts is to be open when we are in these kinds of crisis and difficult periods.”

Her courtroom experience includes numerous jury and bench trials, prosecuting adult felonies and misdemeanors, and dependency cases.

“We are thrilled Amelia will be leading our Prosecutor’s Office team,” Harris said. “She brings a strong, steady, community-minded approach to enforcement.”

The Delaware City Prosecutor’s Office prosecutes misdemeanor criminal and traffic offenses that occur in Delaware County. Approximately 20,000 cases are filed in the court annually.

Bean-DeFlumer graduated from Marietta College and the Ohio State University Moritz School of Law.
