The number of Delaware Countians obtaining at least one dose of any of the available COVID-19 vaccines, as well as those in surrounding counties, is substantially above the state average.

Statistics reported on Saturday by the Ohio Department of Health indicated that 3,647,477 Ohioans have had at least one vaccine shot, representing 39.1% of those eligible. Of those, 2,135,650, or 18.27%, have completed their vaccination regimen.

In Delaware County, 81,607 have received at least one shot. This number is approximately 39.01% of those eligible. 21.49%, or 44,943, have received either one shot of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine or two shots of the other two major vaccines, and thereby completed their vaccination.

Counties that surround Delaware County had the following percentages for residents who have obtained at least one vaccination shot:

Morrow – 24.11%

Marion — 26.95%

Union — 30.46%

Franklin — 29.50%

Licking — 29.86%

Knox — 25.55%

Delaware County’s rate was the strongest in the state, while the lowest vaccination rate was n Holmes County (11.11%).
