It has been some time since we have checked in on COVID-19 vaccination rates for Delaware Countians.

As with statistics across the state, numbers have continued to rise slowly as a result of incentives, such as the “vax a million” lottery, as well as programs designed to provide easy transportation to vaccination locations.

On Wednesday, the Ohio Department of Health reported that some 5,229,367 Ohioans have had at least one dose of a vaccine. That number represents 44.74% of the population.

Currently, over 25,000 residents of Ohio are getting a vaccine daily.

4,581,171 of those individuals have completed their vaccine regimen or one or two shots, depending on the vaccine given. That is 39.19% of the population.

Delaware County’s initial vaccination rate is currently 58.10%, over 13 percentage points ahead of Ohio as a whole. Completed vaccinations are at 51.54%.

Delaware’s numbers continue to be the strongest in Ohio. This week, for the first time, another Ohio county passed the halfway mark — Medina County.

Neighboring counties had the following percentages (first number are those who have started, and second number those who have finished vaccinations):

  • Franklin 47.41, 41.48
  • Knox 32.78, 30.10
  • Marion 36.48, 32.59
  • Morrow 31.87, 28.64
  • Union 47.49, 42.36
