From the City of Delaware:

City of Delaware offices are closed Monday, January 16 for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and there will be no refuse collection. Residential refuse and recycling crews will operate on the “next day” collection schedule, Tuesday, January 17, through Saturday, January 21, to complete the week’s collections. Questions concerning collections can be directed to [email protected] or 740-203-1810.

Council seeks to fill vacant seat. Delaware City Council is accepting applications for the vacant 2nd Ward council seat. The deadline to apply is 5 PM on January 27.

Candidates with complete applications will be invited to a public meeting for interviews with City Council on February 6 at City Hall. If necessary, an additional round of interviews may be held.

The appointed candidate can seek election to the seat in November 2023 and, if successful, would serve the remainder of the term expiring November 2027. Preference will be given to candidates who obtain 25 signatures of residents of the 2nd Ward (one signature per household) and express an interest in running for the remainder of the unexpired term. Neither completing the signature form or running for election in November 2023 are requirements to apply.

The application form can be found here.
