A convenience store chain well known elsewhere in the county has its eyes set on the Midwest.

In particular, it is targeting Delaware County for its first Ohio location.

Racetrac has over 550 locations across the country. Beginning from a single location in Missouri in 1934, it is currenty headquartered in Atlanta. It is expanding from the south northwards, having entered Tennessee three years ago.

The new Delaware Racetrac would have approximately 6,008 square feet for the store, eight fuleing islands, 5 fueling islands for larger vehicles, and 34 parking spaces. The facility would offer hot foods and have a well-known Swirl World frozen yogurt station. It would be located on 4.6 acres located north of US 36/SR 37 and just west of the future Davidson Lane.

The main store would feature wainscoting of Delaware blue limestone, and the facility would have blue and red banding and trim. Racetrac would employ between 25 and 30 individuals.

After unanimous approval during a hearing before the Delaware Planning Commission in December, final approval for the store will be considered by Delaware City Council at its January 23 meeting.
