The Delaware Soil and Water Conservation District is offering a chance for Delaware County schools – including elementary, middle, and high schools – to receive free tree seedlings.

The aim of this program is to teach students the significance of trees in regards to their health, community, and environment. Teachers can request a specified number of trees to be planted on their school grounds, making this a great opportunity to enhance outdoor learning experiences.

By having students take ownership and responsibility for the trees planted at their school, they will have a more personal connection to their environment.

To secure the seedling trees for your school, complete the order form by March 3, 2023. The trees will be delivered to the schools between April 12-14, 2023, and a Delaware SWCD representative will be in touch to coordinate the delivery.

Trees which are generally available include Cannan Fir, Norway and Colorado Blue Spruce, Eastern White Pine, and American Arborvitae trees. The Delaware SWCD also has a limited number of deciduous trees that are available by special request, including:

American Hazelnut
American Sycamore
Black Locust
Eastern Redbud
Pawpaw
Persimmon
Shagbark Hickory
Spicebush
Sugar Maple
Swamp White Oak
Black Gum
White Flowering Dogwood

Interested educations should complete this form. Trees are also available for sale; information is available here.
