As summer begins, Olentangy Schools is already looking ahead to the first morning of the 2026-27 school year, when thousands of students will make their way back to classrooms across the district. For families who rely on school bus transportation, one important step needs to happen well before that first bell rings.

Olentangy Transportation is asking all families with students eligible for bus service to confirm their transportation plans by June 25. That includes families who need bus service and those who plan to opt out.

One Form For Each Student

The district is asking families to complete one transportation form per child here. Students who will ride the bus must be registered through the 2026-27 bus transportation form. Families who do not need transportation still need to open the form, select “No,” and provide the child’s name, student ID, and address.

Student ID numbers can be found in the PowerSchool parent portal, located in the top blue bar.

Planning Ahead, Even If Plans Change

The district is also reminding families that students involved in sports or other programs that delay their need for transportation should still be registered now. That step helps ensure bus service is ready to begin once the activity ends, rather than leaving families to make arrangements later in the school year.

Why The Deadline Matters

Transportation planning is a large logistical task, and the district says accurate information is needed to assign routes, seats, and service. Families who do not submit a complete form by June 25 may not have bus service available on the first day of school.

The message is straightforward: even if a family’s transportation plan seems obvious, Olentangy needs it confirmed.

Safety On Board

For the coming school year, each student riding an Olentangy bus will be assigned a seat. Students will also be expected to follow all bus rules included in the student handbook.
