The Arts Castle is currently hosting one of its most anticipated annual exhibits, the Delaware County Juried High School Art Show. Now through February 27, nearly 170 pieces of student artwork from across the county are on display at 190 W. Winter Street in Delaware. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
Students from Delaware Hayes, Buckeye Valley, Delaware Christian, Olentangy Berlin, Olentangy Liberty, and Olentangy Orange submitted work for consideration. Selected pieces were chosen through a juried process similar to what professional artists experience when entering gallery shows.
This is not a school hallway display. Student work is presented in a formal gallery setting, with labels and careful placement throughout The Arts Castle’s rooms.
A Wide Range of Work and Perspectives
The exhibit includes drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, and mixed media. The variety is striking. Some pieces are technically detailed and precise. Others are experimental and expressive. Together, they show the depth of talent developing in local classrooms.
For many students, this is the first time their work has been shown publicly in a gallery environment. Visitors are seeing how young artists interpret the world around them through their chosen mediums.
Why It’s Worth a Visit
You do not need an art background to appreciate this show. The work is accessible and engaging, and the exhibit offers a clear look at the quality of art education in Delaware County schools.
You will likely recognize school names. You may recognize student names. Even if you do not, the exhibit stands on its own as a strong collection of student creativity.
