Union County Airport in Marysville is taking Oktoberfest to new heights—literally.

On October 8, from 11 AM to 3:30 PM, the airport will host an Oktoberfest Fly-In event that promises an authentic German experience. The “A Cut Above Schnitzel” food truck will be serving up a smorgasbord of German delicacies, including Schnitzel, Bratwurst, Curry Wurst, Hamburgers, Frankfurters, Potato Pancakes, Pretzel Bites, Sauerkraut, Potato Salad, and a variety of desserts.

The event isn’t just about food; it’s an aerial extravaganza. Attendees can book airplane rides on WWII T-6 Texan “Checkers” or opt for a Golden Age biplane ride with Goodfolk & O’Tymes Biplane Rides. Additionally, the Historical Aircraft Squadron, Inc. from Lancaster will also be offering airplane rides, giving aviation enthusiasts a chance to experience history in the most immersive way possible.

Living History and Military Might

The Ohio Army National Guard will be present with artillery and Air Defense units, offering a living history experience. The 801st Medical Air Evacuation Squadron will also contribute to the WWII living history display. These interactive experiences provide a unique opportunity to learn about military history and the role of aviation in it.

Static Displays: A Museum on the Tarmac

The Buckeye Wing of the Commemorative Air Force will showcase their 1943 WWII Fairchild PT-26, 1973 RAF Scottish Aviation Bulldog, and 1960s Chinese Nanchang on static display. These aircraft offer a tangible link to aviation history, and attendees can get up close and personal with these mechanical marvels.

More Than Just an Event, It’s a Celebration

The event will feature a covered outdoor eating area and has the capacity to park up to 50 planes at a time on the ramp. To set the mood, German music will be playing throughout the venue, and you might even catch a few people dressed in traditional German outfits. With free admission, great food, and a sky full of opportunities, the Oktoberfest Fly-In at Union County Airport is a day-long celebration you won’t want to miss.
