A construction project to service the roof at the Westerville Community Center is now underway, and it will bring a few temporary changes inside the building over the next six to eight weeks. Most of the center’s daily activity will continue without interruption, but a few areas will be off limits for short stretches.
What will be closed
From November 3–5, the arts and crafts room, the e-Sports room, the south hallway, and the restrooms located in that section of the building will be closed to visitors. After that initial closure, the arts and crafts room will remain closed for about a month as work continues overhead.
Contractors don’t expect heating to be affected in the closed areas. Noise may be noticeable at times, but the City expects those louder moments to be brief.
Getting in and out during construction
For the first few days of the project, the main drive from Cleveland Avenue will be blocked. The front door will still be open, but the City is encouraging visitors to enter from County Line Road instead. Both the south entrance (Senior Center) and the north entrance will remain open.
Because the main drop-off lane will be closed at times, temporary accessible parking will be available.
What to expect inside
The City will post clear signs and pedestrian routing inside the building. Traffic control devices will guide visitors safely around the work zone, and staff will be available to help with directions. Aside from the closed rooms, regular programming should continue as usual.
