A larger playground at Sandy Corners and a new mix of climbing, spinning, and musical activities at Emerald Fields North are moving closer to becoming part of Dublin’s park system.

The two projects are on different construction schedules. In a September 10 update, the city said Sandy Corners work was nearing completion, with an expected finish on Friday, September 18, 2026. At Emerald Fields North, construction staging had begun, with completion anticipated during October. Those are construction targets, not announcements that either renovated playground is already open. The city also reported that inclement weather had delayed some work at Emerald Fields North. September construction update.

A Larger Playground At Sandy Corners

The Sandy Corners renovation includes a larger play area, new equipment, and new surfacing. The published design combines a play structure with a playhouse, swings, and slides. Equipment is planned for children ages 2 through 12, and the city describes the design as inclusive of different ages and abilities.

Residents can see the proposed layout through the city’s Sandy Corners project page. The city says it will share updated photographs when construction is complete.

More Than Slides At Emerald Fields

Emerald Fields North has a different collection of planned activities. Its design includes three slides, a climbing structure, musical instruments, spinners, and six swings. Like Sandy Corners, it includes new surfacing and equipment intended for children ages 2 through 12.

The instruments add a musical option alongside the more familiar climbing and swinging equipment. The city likewise describes this playground’s design as inclusive.

The Emerald Fields North project page includes a downloadable concept plan and records 40 responses to its now-closed public survey. That page provides the design background; the September 10 announcement supplies the newer construction timetable.

Accessibility Beyond The Equipment

The renovations also sit alongside Dublin’s broader work on access to recreation. In its separately published Parks Accessibility Plan description, last updated in 2024, the city outlined an assessment of physical, program, and communication barriers. The stated purpose includes setting priorities and budgets for removing barriers, rather than considering playground equipment alone.

That older planning document does not establish that every proposed improvement has been completed. It does explain the broader approach behind the city’s emphasis on inclusive public spaces.

For families planning a visit, the immediate next step is to watch for completion updates. Dublin’s general park guidelines list dawn-to-dusk hours unless otherwise posted, but construction notices and restrictions at each site remain important while work continues.
