UPDATED WITH ADDITIONAL INFORMATION – There’s a different kind of “parade of homes” taking place soon in Delaware County. Unlike the just-built variety at Evans Farm, this one showcases structures with a few more years under their belts.

The Delaware County Historical Society is hosting the Historic Stratford Mill Town Tour on Sunday, August 11 from 2 PM to 5 PM in the vicinity of the Stratford Road/US 23 intersection.

This tour will include 10 stops at historic buildings in the Stratford Mill Town. It provides the opportunity to learn the history of the village of Stratford and its mills (1811 – 1896). You can visit several of the buildings that were in use when the paper mill of Stratford flourished.

Tour buildings include:

  • The Forest Meeker House, which dates from the 1820s
  • The Garth Oberlander Barn, which dates from the 1840s
  • The Norman Dewey Perry House (2367 Stratford Rd), built in 1859
  • Stratford Church (pictured), now the home of DK Architects, built in 1844

You may also visit a new exhibit about Stratford at the Meeker Homestead Museum.

Transportation will be provided between the stop locations, provided by Coughlin Automotive and Performance Auto. Parking for the tours will be at The Barn at Stratford, 2690 Stratford Road, Delaware.

This is a ticketed event which is sponsored by David Kerr, architect, who recently purchased and renovated the Stratford Church. Ticket price is $20 for Delaware County Historical Society members, $25 for non members and children 12 and under are free. Advance registration and ticketing is required.

For more information, please call the Society at 740.369.3838 ext.3 or contact them via email at: Programs@DelawareOhioHIstory.org.
