That question is an actual one based on a report released on Monday by financial media company Bloomberg.

In a piece entitled, “JPMorgan Weighs Shifting Thousands of Jobs Out of New York Area,” Bloomberg shared news that the banking company is considering moving thousands of employees out of its Manhattan headquarters in light of a possible future recession.

And, despite the negative reason, the action might be a beneficial one for central Ohio. And, in particular, the Polaris area which is already home to one of the largest JPMorgan Chase employment bases in the country, one tied to the fact that Columbus was once the headquarters for BankOne, acquired by Chase.

This is on the minds of people at Columbus Business First, which noted on Tuesday that “Chase has several major employment hubs around the country, including an office near Polaris that is the focal point for its 18,400-strong Central Ohio workforce” and might well be one of the beneficiaries of the relocation.

The Business First story, entitled, “JPMorgan Chase considering shifting jobs out of New York, report says, with Columbus in the mix,” can be read below.

JPMorgan Chase has long maintained a sizable New York headquarters, but rising costs have led to job growth at regional hubs like Columbus. Now, it seems, the bank is looking again at where to best house its workforce.
