It soon will be Maple Syrup Time in Delaware County, and particularly at Preservation Parks’ Gallant Farm. That’s the name of the event taking place there on Leap Year Day, February 29 from 9 AM to 4 PM.

Many Depression-era farms tapped maple trees to collect sap and to make maple syrup through the late winter and early spring. The resulting product provided a tasty sweetener for foods and a source of income during the off season.

Join the crew at Gallant Farm to discover how sap is extracted and then cooked down into oh-so-sweet maple syup. All ages are welcome.

Gallant Farm is located at 2150 Buttermilk Hill Road in Delaware.
