Powell City Council has approved an ordinance that authorizes the City Manager to award a bid in the amount of $744,496 to Columbus Asphalt Paving, Inc. for the annual Street Maintenance Program.

This year’s Street Maintenance Program will include repaving several residential streets throughout the community:

• Repaving Liberty Ridge Avenue, Payne’s Depot, Welywn Drive, Shale Ridge Court, Valley Place and a portion of Beech Ridge Drive
• Restoration of Scioto and Liberty Street Intersection
• Installation of concrete apron at the alley entrance across from 44 Liberty Street
• Mill and overlay of Sycamore Ridge Drive, Grey Oaks Drive, Wallsend Court and Oklahoma Court

“This is a key maintenance program in the City,” said City Manager Andy White. “The City has deferred the full street maintenance program for a few years in order to save funds for the Sawmill Parkway resurfacing project. We’re looking forward to repaving areas that are in need of repair.”

The Engineering Department assesses each section of roadway utilizing the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) Pavement Condition Rating (PCR) System, which considers various road condition elements. PCR values range from 0-100, with less than 60 PCR being considered poor road conditions.

Funding for the annual Street Maintenance Program comes primarily through gasoline tax revenues.
