A new concept retail store with a different take on “bargain bin” shopping is coming to southern Delaware County — “pOpshelf.”
Facebook has confirmed that the quickly growing retail brand pOpshelf will be opening soon at 1235 Polaris Parkway. The concept operation from Dollar General first launched in 2000, is now in 11 states, and opened its first Ohio store this January in Cuyahoga Falls.
The chain’s stated goal is to have 1,000 stores in place by the end of 2025.
pOpshelf stores carry forward Dollar General’s value pricing but add an expanded variety to offerings in each location. Each store emphasizes clean shelves and vibrant colors in what has been described as a “treasure hunt” experience.
As its website shares, pOpshelf believes that “…shopping should be an experience you enjoy. A time to wander. Explore. Linger. A momentary escape just for you.”
Matt Frame, pOpshelf’s senior director of store operations. “With each pOpshelf store, we hope to bring joy with our differentiated retail concept that offers customers with a variety of home décor, beauty essentials, party supplies, specialty foods, electronics and more. Categories include: Home Décor, Treat Yourself, Entertaining, Get Creative, Toys, Holiday Cheer and Beauty.
Each pOpshelf store is expected to create up to 15 new jobs.
pOpshelf was recognized by Progressive Grocer on the 2022 Top Women in Grocery list in the Senior Level Executives category and Retail TouchPoints with a 2021 Retail Innovator Award in the Customer Experience Innovation category.
