The Point Improvement

Modification to traffic operations has been pushed back to the week of 9/15, when the contractor will move traffic to the recently completed southern two travel lanes of 36/37. Access to/from Bowtown Road from US36/37 will be prohibited during this phase of construction. Intermittent 15-minute full closures of 36/37 will occur this week beginning on 9/10-9/12 for the erection of the temporary bridge steel beams. Closures will be brief and limited between 10 pm and 5am. Fire Chief Pyle will be present to monitor emergency response access during the brief closures.

Pennsylvania Ave. Paving

Paving activity along Pennsylvania Ave. from the fairground’s west property line to Sandusky Street is complete, as are handicap ramp repairs, pavement markings, signage and the new pedestrian path on the north side. The Berne and Euclid pedestrian crossings will be enhanced with signage and centerline delineators during fair week reminding motorists to watch for pedestrians in crosswalks. The planned RRFB at Euclid will be installed sometime after the fair. There will be no construction activities on this project during fair week. Paving of the remainder of Pennsylvania Ave. and the widening for the new left turn lane at Heritage will commence following fair week and is to be complete by 11/1.

Pittsburgh Drive Resurfacing

Paving of Pittsburgh Drive from S. Houk Road to Section Line Road will commence after the fair and is anticipated to take two weeks to complete. Two-way traffic will be maintained by flaggers during the work.

Noble-Ross-David-Eaton Paving

Strawser paving will commence paving operation this week and anticipates the work to take four weeks to complete. Traffic will be maintained along all streets during construction.

Colomet Drive Reconstruction

Shelly & Sands anticipates final paving to occur this week. Two-way traffic will be maintained during paving with flaggers.

Central Ave. Turn Lane at Milo Street

The contractor has completed construction of the new curbs, sidewalks, and base pavement, and will return to perform the final micro surfacing and restriping work following the County Fair. Anticipated project completion is early October. The contractor associated with the Flax Street Mill project will be installing a catch basin along the north side of Central Avenue starting this week. Two-way traffic will be maintained.

Sawmill Parkway Extension

Trucco Construction continues work on the south leg of the new roundabout intersection. Section Line Road is now open between US 36 and Sawmill Parkway as well as Sawmill from Section Line to US 42. It is anticipated for Section Line Road to be fully open by 9/24.

West William/Carson Farms Traffic Signal

The signal has been placed on ‘flash’ for a seven-day testing period, and will be fully operational on Friday 9/13.

S. Houk Road Grading

Grading activity on South Houk Road is largely completed with seeding and mulching to be wrapped up this week. Sight distance has been improved for vehicles exiting Diverston and Cobblestone to S Houk Road.

East Winter Parking Lot Paving

The work is complete with the parking lot open for public use.

Liberty Road Culvert Replacement

Work is anticipated to commence on or after 9/23 on the replacement of the existing drainage culvert. Liberty Road will be closed between W Hull Drive and Slack Road. The work is anticipated to take 45 days to complete.

Citywide Crack Seal Program

The contractor continues pavement crack seal operations for a projected 50 city streets throughout the community. The work is anticipated to be complete by 9/13. Traffic is maintained during this work.
