Liberty Township residents, here’s your chance to get involved in shaping the future of your community! The Liberty Township Board of Trustees is currently accepting Letters of Interest from residents living in the unincorporated areas of the township who are interested in serving as Alternate Members on the Zoning Commission or the Board of Zoning Appeals.

Make an Impact in Your Community

Serving as an Alternate Member means stepping in for Regular Members when they are unable to attend meetings. It’s an excellent opportunity to be directly involved in local decision-making processes that impact growth, development, and the community’s overall character. The Zoning Commission and the Board of Zoning Appeals play a crucial role in maintaining and developing the township according to the Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Code.

About the Zoning Roles

The Zoning Commission is responsible for reviewing rezoning applications and development plan submissions to ensure alignment with the township’s Zoning Resolution and Comprehensive Plan. This commission generally meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 7:00 PM.

The Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) handles variance applications for individual parcels, allowing property owners to seek exceptions from the zoning regulations. The BZA usually meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM.

Get Involved and Shape Your Community

These roles are not only about attending meetings; they are about helping to guide the future of Liberty Township by contributing to important decisions on zoning and community development. It’s a fantastic way to gain insights into local projects, keep abreast of upcoming developments, and make meaningful contributions to your community.

How to Apply

Interested residents are encouraged to send their Letters of Interest, along with an optional resume, to Township Administrator Kevin Vaughn at [email protected]. For more information, you can also call the Administrative Offices at 740-938-2004 or visit their website at Liberty Township Zoning Member Info.

Join Us in Shaping Liberty Township

Being part of the Zoning Commission or Board of Zoning Appeals is a great way to make a real difference in your community. Whether you’re curious about local developments or eager to be a part of Liberty Township’s planning and growth, this is your chance to get involved.
