Summer is when the most amount of work is undertaken on the region’s roadways. Below is information from the Ohio Department of Transportation for improvement and construction projects for Delaware and Franklin Counties during the coming week.

New Impacts

U.S. 23 Spot Pavement Repairs

  • U.S 23 northbound between Hills Miller Rd and SR 229 will be reduced to one lane daily (7 p.m. – 3 p.m.) starting Monday, August 10th through Fall 2026
  • U.S 23 southbound between Hills Miller Rd and SR 229 will be reduced to one lane daily (7 p.m. – 3 p.m.) starting Monday, August 10th through Fall 2026

SR 521/Blue Church Road Culvert Replacement

  • Blue Church Road south of SR 521 will close starting Monday, August 10 through Wednesday, August 19.
    • Detour: Blue Church Rd. to Wilson Rd. to SR 61 to SR 521 or reverse.
  • Blue Church Road north of SR 521 will close starting Wednesday, August 19 through Friday, August 28.
    • Detour: Blue Church Rd. to Kilbourne Rd. to SR 521 or reverse.

Continuing Impacts

SR 229 Resurfacing

  • SR 229 between U.S. 23 and the Village of Ashley will have various daytime lane restrictions (7 a.m. – 7 p.m.) starting Monday, May 11 through Fall 2026.

I-71/U.S. 36/SR 37 Sunbury Parkway

  • The I-71 northbound ramp to U.S. 36/SR 37 will be reduced to one lane starting Wednesday, April 8 through Fall 2026.

New Impacts

I-270 Resurfacing

  • The I-70 eastbound ramp to I-270 southbound will close (9 a.m. — 3 p.m.) Thursday, August 6.
    • Detour: I-70 eastbound to Brice Rd. to I-70 westbound to I-270 southbound.
  • I-270 southbound between East Main St. and the Norfolk Southern railroad bridge will be reduced to one lane starting Friday, August 7 at 8 p.m. through Monday, August 10 at 5 a.m.

I-71/Main St. Interchange Improvements

  • The I-71 southbound ramp to Main St. will close overnight (9 p.m. – 5 a.m.) Monday, August 3 through Friday, August 7.
    • Detour: I-71 southbound to Spring St. to Broad St. to Parsons Ave. to Main St.

I-270 and Easton Way Intersection Improvements

  • The I-270 southbound ramp to Easton Way will close overnight (8 p.m. – 5 a.m.) Sunday, August 9

I-270/I-71 Interchange Improvements

  • The I-270 eastbound ramp to I-71 northbound on the northside will close overnight (11 p.m. – 5 a.m.) Sunday, August 9.
    • Detour: I-270 eastbound to Cleveland Ave. to I-270 westbound to I-71 northbound.

Franklin and Fayette County Bridge Repairs

  • I-71 southbound between N. Broadway Street and Weber Rd. will have various overnight lane restrictions (10 p.m. – 5 a.m.) Saturday, August 15.
  • The N. Broadway Ramp to I-71 southbound will close Saturday, August 15.
    • Detour: Silver Rd SB to E. Weber Rd.

Continuing Impacts

U.S. 33 Culvert Replacement

  • U.S. 33 between Fishinger Rd. and SR 161 will close starting Monday, August 3 for 45 days.
    • Detour: U.S. 33 to SR 161 to I-270 to Cemetery Rd./Fishinger Rd. or reverse.

I-70 Pavement Reconstruction

  • I-70 westbound traffic will be shifted to the eastbound side of the roadway starting overnight Tuesday, December 9, 2025. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained in each direction through Fall 2026.

Far East Freeway

  • Brice Rd. over I-70 will be reduced to one lane in each direction starting Saturday, August 2, 2025. Two left turn lanes on Brice Rd. northbound to I-70 WB will be maintained.
