After months of construction, preceded by a lengthy time of planning, the Delaware County District Library is getting ready to unveil the newest facility in their system.

The new Liberty Branch Library, located at 7468 Seitz Road in Powell, will have a ribbon cutting and grand opening on Sunday, March 26 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Remarks will take place first, followed by an open house.

Regular operating hours will begin on Monday, March 27, and at the outset will be as follows:

  • Monday – Thursday: 10 AM to 7 PM
  • Friday – Saturday: 10 AM to 5 PM
  • Sunday — Closed

The new library is just west of Olentangy Liberty High School and will contain some 42,000 square feet on three levels. Some physical highlights of the facility include:

  • 100+ parking spaces
  • A first floor courtyard for reading and programs
  • An adult area on the second floor with a reading porch and fireplace
  • A second floor teen space with small meeting and study rooms
  • “Learning stairs” that go from the first to second floors and which will provide additional space for reading, conversations, and programming
  • The lower level will feature a large community room and space for a new Maker Studio.

Programming and other additions include a Teen Services Librarian. The facility will house approximately 60,000 books, DVDs, CDsm and other media, and will offer numerous stations for internet access.

The building was designed by SHP Architects and was funded with a 2018 levy renewal passed by Delaware County voters.
