This weekly report from ODOT District 6 highlights road construction projects which are beginning or underway in the multi-county area it serves. What follows are posted projects taking place within Delaware and Franklin Counties. Please stay safe and pay attention to these closures and work taking place during the week beginning on September 25.

DELAWARE COUNTY

U.S. Route 42

NEW IMPACTS

U.S. 42 northbound between Fern Dr. and Sandusky St. will close starting Monday, September 26 for 28 days. Detour: SR 257 northbound to U.S. 36 eastbound to to U.S. 23 southbound to U.S. 42.

CONTINUING IMPACTS

U.S. 42 northbound between Klondike and Section Line-Rd. will close starting Monday, August 29 for 84 days. Detour: SR 257 northbound to U.S. 36 eastbound to U.S. 23 southbound to U.S. 42.

State Route 750

CONTINUING IMPACTS

SR 750 Resurfacing – SR 750 between SR 315 and Sawmill Rd. will have nightly lane restrictions (9 p.m. – 5 a.m.) starting Sunday, September 18 through October 2022.


FRANKLIN COUNTY

State Route 104

NEW IMPACTS

SR 104 at I-270 will have daytime lane restrictions (7 a.m. – 5 p.m.) on Monday, September 26 and Tuesday, September 27.

Interstate 270

NEW IMPACTS

I-270 eastbound and westbound between SR 161 and Sawmill Rd. will have nightly lane restrictions (7 p.m. – 5 a.m.) starting Sunday, September 25 through Friday, October 21.

Interstate 670

NEW IMPACTS

  • Vine St. eastbound and westbound at I-670 will have nightly lane restrictions (7 p.m. – 5 a.m.) starting Sunday, September 25 through Wednesday, September 28.
  • SR 315 southbound between 5th Ave. and I-70 will have nightly lane restrictions (7 p.m. – 5 a.m.) starting Sunday, September 25 through Wednesday, September 28.
  • The SR 315 southbound ramp to I-670 eastbound/Neil Ave. will close nightly (7 p.m. – 5 a.m.) starting Sunday, September 25 through Wednesday, September 28.
    • Detour: SR 315 southbound to I-70 eastbound/I-71 northbound to I-71 northbound to I-670 eastbound.
  • The I-670 eastbound ramp to Neil Ave. will close nightly (8p.m. – 5 a.m.) starting Sunday, September 25 through Wednesday, September 28.
    • Detour: I-670 eastbound to 3rd/4th St. to Goodale St. to Neil Ave.
  • The SR 315 northbound ramp to I-670 eastbound will close nightly (8 p.m. – 5 a.m.) starting Sunday, September 25 through Wednesday, September 28.
    • Detour: SR 315 northbound to Goodale St. to Olentangy River Rd. to SR 315 southbound to I-670 westbound to Grandview Ave. to I-670 eastbound.
  • I-670 eastbound between SR 315 and High St. will have nightly lane restrictions (9 p.m. – 5 a.m.) starting Sunday, September 25 through Wednesday, September 28.

Interstates 70/71 Reconstruction – I-70/71 will experience lane restrictions through downtown Columbus to widen and reconstruct the roadway, replace bridges over the interstate, rebuild ramps, and construct new urban avenues parallel to the interstate. Various downtown ramps will permanently close. Estimated completion: Fall 2025

  • The Rich/Town St. ramp to SR 315 southbound will close overnight (7 p.m. – 5 a.m.) on Thursday, September 29.
    • Detour: SR 315 northbound to U.S. 33 to SR 315 southbound
  • The SR 315 southbound ramp to I-70 westbound will close overnight (7 p.m. – 5 a.m.) on Thursday, September 29.
    • Detour: I-70 eastbound to Livingston Ave. to 4th St. to Mound St. to 3rd St. to I-70 westbound.
  • The I-71 northbound ramp to I-70 westbound will close overnight (9 p.m. – 5 a.m.) on Thursday, September 29.
    • Detour: I-70 eastbound to Livingston Ave. to 4th St. to Mound St. to 3rd St. to I-70 westbound.
  • The I-70 westbound ramp to W. Mound St. will close overnight (10 p.m. – 5 a.m.) on Thursday, September 29.
    • Detour: I-70 westbound to Broad St. eastbound to Central Ave. to southbound to Mound St.
  • The I-70 westbound ramp to Central/Sullivant Ave. will close overnight (10 p.m. – 5 a.m.) on Thursday, September 29.
    • Detour: I-70 westbound to Broad St. eastbound to Central Ave. southbound.
  • I-70 westbound between SR 315 and Broad St. will have overnight lane restrictions (9 p.m. – 5 a.m.) on Thursday, September 29.
  • Beginning October 10th, Front St. will convert to two-way traffic between W. Mound St. and W. Fulton St./Livingston Ave.

CONTINUING IMPACTS

  • Souder Ave. between Mound St. and Thomas Ave. closed starting June 20, 2022 for one year.
    • Southbound detour: Davis Ave. northbound to Sullivant Ave. westbound to Glenwood Ave. southbound to Mound St. eastbound
    • Northbound detour: Mound St. westbound to Glenwood Ave. northbound to Sullivant Ave. eastbound.
  • The I-70 eastbound exit ramp to Front St. closed permanently June 17, 2022 so crews can construct a new exit ramp. The detour is I-70 east to Livingston Ave. to N. 4th St. to W. Mound St. to High St. or Front St. To access the Franklin County Court House parking garage on Front St., drivers should follow the detour to southbound High St. and continue to Sycamore St. to northbound Front St.
  • W. Fulton St. closed permanently June 17, 2022 between Short St. and Ludlow St.
  • Livingston Ave. closed to through traffic at City Park Ave. on June 17, 2022 until Fall 2024. Traffic coming from the exit ramp will not be impacted.
  • The traffic pattern on the ramp from SR 315 south to I-70 east changed June 17. Instead of SR 315 south traffic remaining in its own lane to join I-70 east, traffic coming from SR 315 south will have to merge with I-70 east traffic. This pattern will be in effect for a little more than a year.
  • The I-70 eastbound ramp to SR 315 northbound closed permanently March 20, 2022. Drivers coming from I-270 on the West Side should use I-670 east to access SR 315 north. Alternate routes include:
    • I-70 east to I-71 north to I-670 west to SR 315 north
    • Central Ave. to McKinley Ave to Grandview Ave. to I-670 east to SR 315 north
    • Rich/Town St. to SR 315 north
