Just about 45 minutes north of Delaware, a burst of musical color is lighting up the stage in Uptowne Galion—and it’s worth the summer drive.
Galion Community Theatre’s youth production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is serving up vibrant storytelling, big musical numbers, and a heartwarming showcase of young talent. Whether you’re a musical theatre fan, a road tripper with an eye for small-town gems, or simply looking for a cool summer evening activity, this show belongs on your radar.
Local Talent with a Delaware County Connection
In the title role is Lucas Weaver, a name familiar to some Delaware residents—not just for his stage presence, but for his speed. A junior at Ohio Wesleyan University this fall, Weaver competes as a track athlete for the Battling Bishops. In Joseph, he trades running spikes for a technicolor robe and leads the cast with warmth, charisma, and vocal power.
Weaver’s performance is central to the production’s energy, guiding audiences through the ups and downs of the dreamer’s journey—from betrayal to triumph—with the same determination he brings to the track.
A Story Told in Song and Movement
Directed by Rachel Jarvis with musical direction by Amy Jarvis and choreography by Beth Anne Jarvis, Joseph bursts with color, movement, and emotion. The musical tells the well-known story of Joseph, whose coat of many colors becomes both a symbol of his father’s love and a target of his brothers’ jealousy. Sold into slavery and thought lost forever, Joseph rises through the ranks of Egyptian society by staying true to his dreams.
From the iconic opener “Any Dream Will Do” to the disco-tinged “Go, Go, Go Joseph,” this is a show that doesn’t let up on energy. Thanks to the direction and a stage management team led by Miranda Wise, the young cast—ages 10 to 20—delivers a professional-level performance that will leave you grinning long after curtain call.

Why It’s Worth the Drive
What makes this show stand out isn’t just the catchy score or the sparkle of costumes—it’s the spirit of the performers and the community that surrounds them. For Delaware County residents, it’s also a chance to support a fellow Battling Bishop as he takes on a new kind of race: one that leads straight to the stage spotlight.
So pack some snacks, cue up your favorite show tunes, and take a scenic summer drive north. Galion’s Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is more than a musical—it’s a celebration of creativity, talent, and the power of dreams in every color.
