For many adults, the hardest part of staying active is not knowing where to begin. This summer, Delaware County residents age 55 and older will have a free opportunity to start with something familiar, manageable, and proven to help: walking.

Walk With Ease, a six-week evidence-based walking program, begins July 27 and will meet three days a week at the Delaware Public Health District. The program is designed to help participants make walking a safe, enjoyable, and regular part of their lives, whether they are just getting started or already include walking in their regular routine.

The program will run Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM through September 4 at the Delaware Public Health District, 470 S. Sandusky Street in Delaware.

Built For All Fitness Levels 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️

Walk With Ease is intended for a wide range of participants. Those who are new to regular activity can use the program as a gentle starting point, while those who already enjoy walking can benefit from the structure, encouragement, and group support.

The program focuses on more than simply getting steps in. Participants can work toward improved confidence, better balance, increased strength and flexibility, reduced pain, and better overall health. That combination can be especially meaningful for older adults who want to remain active but may be managing stiffness, discomfort, or uncertainty about how much activity is safe.

Support Along The Way 🤝

One of the strengths of Walk With Ease is its group setting. Participants do not have to take the first step alone. The program offers support and encouragement in a friendly environment, helping make walking feel less like a chore and more like a shared commitment to better health. Over the course of six weeks, participants can build a routine at a steady pace while learning how to make walking a more sustainable part of daily life.

The program is free to attend. 💵
