On Tuesday, Powell’s Mayor Tom Counts, alongside the Powell City Council, honored Ebner’s recent induction into the Jewish Sports Heritage Association. In recognition of his contributions to sports and his deep ties to the local community, the city shared on social media that it has declared April 6, 2025, as “Nate Ebner Day.” 🎉👏

Though he did not play high school football, Ebner’s athletic talents were undeniable.
When he arrived at Ohio State University, his focus was initially on rugby. However, by his junior year, Ebner decided to walk on to the Ohio State Buckeyes football team. Despite starting late, his drive and talent earned him a spot on the team as a special teams player. Ebner’s hard work was rewarded with a scholarship and recognition as the team’s most inspirational player.
In 36 career games at OSU, Ebner made 30 tackles, showcasing his knack for special teams. His performance on the field caught the attention of NFL scouts, leading to a pivotal moment in his career.
