The City of Powell is entering the next phase of a long-term effort to shape the future of its downtown, and community members are being asked to help decide what comes next.
City officials have announced a series of open houses focused on Phase II of the Downtown Powell/Village Green Master Plan, a process that will guide potential redevelopment of the Village Green site. Residents, business owners, and stakeholders are encouraged to attend, review early concepts, and provide feedback that will influence the direction of the project.
Upcoming Open Houses
Three opportunities have been scheduled:
- April 20, 1:30–3:30 p.m.
COhatch Powell (Hall’s Corner Room) - April 29, 5:30–7:30 p.m.
Kinsale Golf and Fitness Club (Cork Room) - May 7, 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
Delaware County District Library Liberty Branch (Community Room A)
Each session will include presentations from the City and its consulting partner, The Pizzuti Companies, outlining potential redevelopment concepts for the Village Green area.
From Study To Vision
The current phase builds on nearly a year of groundwork. Phase I of the master plan process, completed in 2025, focused on understanding existing conditions in Downtown Powell. That work included community outreach and technical analysis, culminating in findings presented to City Council in August.
Recognizing the significance of the project, Council approved Phase II on September 2, 2025. This stage shifts from analysis to vision, exploring how the Village Green site could evolve in the years ahead.
What Happens Next
Over the coming months, the City and its consultants will refine development concepts using public input gathered at these open houses and through additional engagement. The goal is to arrive at a preferred development concept that reflects both community priorities and practical considerations such as infrastructure needs. That recommendation is expected to be presented to City Council this fall.
Officials emphasize that this is a formative stage of the process, with community feedback playing a central role in shaping the outcome. More information, including materials from Phase I, is available on the City’s website.
