The Delaware Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is now accepting applications for its annual scholarship, awarding $500 to a student entering their first year of college, technical school, or graduate studies.

This scholarship is designed to support students dedicated to preserving and enhancing natural resources, reinforcing the district’s mission of conservation and sustainability.

Who Is Eligible?

The Delaware SWCD scholarship is open to students meeting the following criteria:

  • Must be entering their first year as a part-time or full-time student at an accredited two- or four-year college, technical school, or university.
  • Graduate students entering their first year are also eligible.
  • Applicants must be pursuing a degree in agriculture, natural resources, environmental science, or a related discipline.

This opportunity is particularly valuable for students looking to make a tangible impact in environmental preservation, sustainable farming, or conservation policy.

Encouraging Local Talent in Conservation

By offering this scholarship, the Delaware SWCD aims to invest in the future of conservation efforts within the county and beyond. The organization works year-round to protect soil and water resources, and this scholarship extends that mission by supporting students committed to similar goals.

“Every year, we see students eager to make a difference in environmental sustainability,” said a representative from the Delaware SWCD. “This scholarship helps them take that first step toward a career in conservation.”
