This session provided insights into Sunbury’s future growth, emphasizing two major projects: Hitachi Astemo’s expansion and the Sunbury Parkway District plan.

Hitachi Astemo’s Expansion: A Leap Forward

In an informal presentation, Hitachi Astemo shared an ambitious plan to expand their industrial facility in Sunbury. This expansion is pivotal for the company and the local community, promising increased production capacity and job opportunities.

  • Commitment to Innovation and Safety: Hitachi Astemo showcased a video detailing their mission to enhance mobility through advanced technologies. The company aims to reduce traffic accidents and promote sustainable transportation.
  • Environmental Sustainability: The presentation highlighted Hitachi Astemo’s efforts in reducing environmental impact through vehicle electrification and carbon-neutral initiatives. Their goal is to contribute to cleaner air and a greener Earth for future generations.

Jon Carle, General Manager of Engineering, expressed his excitement about the expansion. With 35 years of experience at Hitachi Astemo, Carle has witnessed the company’s growth and its deep-rooted connection with the Sunbury community.

Sunbury Parkway District Plan: Shaping the Future

The commission also delved into the Sunbury Parkway District plan, a comprehensive blueprint for future development in the area west of downtown Sunbury.

  • Design Standards: The plan outlines stringent design standards to ensure high-quality development. This includes architectural guidelines, landscaping requirements, and infrastructure specifications to create a cohesive and aesthetically pleasing environment.
