Westerville residents now have an easier way to track their neighborhood’s leaf collection, as the City of Westerville launches an online tracker for the 2024 Leaf Collection Program. Designed to streamline the leaf collection process and ensure safer, cleaner streets, the program runs from October 7 through December 27. With the city divided into three zones, residents can use the tracker to see when leaf crews will be working in their area and monitor collection progress in real-time.

Keeping Streets Clear and Safe

Fallen leaves, if left on streets, can lead to clogged storm sewers, increased debris in local streams, and potentially hazardous driving conditions. By placing leaves on the tree lawn area instead of street gutters, residents can help the city minimize these environmental and safety risks. Wet, slippery leaves on roadways can pose dangers for vehicles and bicycles alike, especially as temperatures drop.

The city also reminds residents to avoid parking within three feet of leaf piles to allow collection crews to safely access and remove the leaves.

Track Leaf Collection Progress Online

For the first time, Westerville’s online tracking tool allows residents to view leaf collection progress throughout the city. Accessible at Westerville Leaf Collection Tracker, this tool is part of the city’s commitment to making services more transparent and user-friendly. Residents with questions or those needing assistance can still call the Service Department at 614.901.6740 during business hours.

Program Zones and Key Dates

The city’s collection zones are organized as follows:

  • Zone 1: Sunbury Road to Spring Road (east side)
  • Zone 2: Spring Road (west side) to Otterbein Avenue (east side)
  • Zone 3: Otterbein Avenue (west side) to the west corporate limits

Residents are encouraged to place their leaves at the curb by 7:00 AM on their designated collection dates to ensure efficient service.

For more detailed information or to view the leaf collection zone map, residents can visit the city’s website or contact the Service Department via phone at 614.901.6740 or email at [email protected].
