Perhaps reflecting its location in the most vaccinated county in the state, school districts and buildings in Delaware County showed a relatively modest increase of reported COVID infections on Thursday in numbers published by the Ohio Department of Health.

Those figures showed that 36 students and 13 staff had new reported cases, for a total of 39.

Last Thursday, in the first set of full results after the launch of school, there were a total of 34 reported cases during the previous week. These included 29 new student infections and 5 staff. These were found in six different school districts and buildings.

This Thursday, September 2, that number of affected districts and buildings remained the same.

Those reporting were as follows:

  • Big Walnut — 4 students, 1 staff
  • Buckeye Valley — 6 students
  • DACC — 1 student
  • Delaware City — 6 students, 2 staff
  • Olentangy — 18 students, 10 staff
  • Delaware St. Paul — 1 student

On the same date, Mansfield and Richland County, which have a smaller number of students but a much lower vaccination rate, reported a total of 141 new infections in schools, over triple the previous week’s number.
