After last weekend’s tree lighting and festivities Downtown, it’s time again for First Friday. For this month’s edition, Downtown Delaware, Inc. has arranged for a casual night out on they host a “Holiday Recipe Tour” throughout downtown businesses.

Pick up your starting recipe card at any of the participating locations, then make your way throughout the remaining stores to complete your book.

Don’t forget to see Santa at The Strand Theatre, 28 E. Winter Street from 6 PM to 8 PM. You can also take a carriage ride from outside the theatre during the same hours.

Speaking of recipes, President Rutherford B. Hayes, a Delaware native, and his wife Lucy, a former Delaware resident, had many favorite dishes. Several of them have now been shared by the Hayes Presidential Library & Museum in Fremont, among which are directions for making corn bread, crumpets, scalloped oysters, and white cake. See if you can follow along and “dine like a President!” You can find there here.
