ATS Industrial Automation held the ribbon cutting ceremony for its new 240,000 square foot battery assembly facility in Lewis Center on Wednesday. The new facility is currently building the battery module, testing and assembly lines for General Motors’ advanced Ultium EV batteries.
ATS Industrial Automation has years of experience assembling EV batteries for the world’s leading original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). The new facility expands its footprint in the Columbus area and allows ATS to support a growing customer base for electric vehicles.
“Our expansion in Columbus demonstrates growing demand; ATS has experience to support our key EV partners” said Dave Kelly, VP of Sales for ATS Industrial Automation, SGA Mobility. “We see this growth as a continuation in our EV strategy to support the growing demand, to shift to sustainable battery and battery storage technologies.”
The facility currently employs 140 full-time employees and 100 contractors. The expansion will bring between 130-160 new high-tech jobs to Delaware County this year.
Executives from ATS and GM will attend, as well as state and local dignitaries.
