Two Christmas movies that have become staples of the season are showing over the next few days at the Strand Theatre in downtown Delaware.

On Sunday, December 18, there will be two showings of the children’s holiday favorite, The Polar Express. The 2004 computer animated fantasy adventure film tells the story of a young boy who, on Christmas Eve, sees a mysterious train bound for the North Pole stop outside his window and is invited aboard by its conductor. The boy joins several other children as they embark on a journey to visit Santa Claus preparing for Christmas.

Showings are at 10 AM in the Main Theatre and 11 AM in the Balcony Theatre.

On Tuesday, December 20 at 7 PM, the whole family can enjoy a showing of the 1954 classic film “White Christmas.”

The film stars Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney, and Vera-Ellen. It includes several well-known musical numbers including “Sisters,” “Snow,” “Count Your Blessings (Instead of Sheep),” and, of course, Irving Berlin’s beloved “White Christmas.”
