The City of Powell Police Department issued the following statement on Wednesday afternoon:

“On Mon., Nov. 13, the Delaware County 911 Center received an out-of-state call from the Sheriff’s Office of Marshall County, Ind. regarding an emergency situation at a residence in The Chase subdivision. Powell Police officers were dispatched to the scene.

After conducting an enhanced property search and protective sweep, officers located a deceased male beyond lifesaving measures and secured the scene.

On Tues., Nov. 14, an arrest warrant was issued and on Wed., Nov. 15 murder charges filed with the Delaware County Courts.

The Powell Police Department responded swiftly. We appreciate the support of our partners at the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the Delaware County Coroner’s Office, and the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office.

Thank you to the community for your cooperation and understanding throughout the initial investigation. The investigation with local law support enforcement agencies remains ongoing, however this was an isolated incident with no further safety concern to the community.”

Tomorrow morning, 1808Delaware will be posting a collection of news stories concerning this crime.
