As Delaware County gears up for the holiday season, People In Need, Inc. is calling on the community for one of their most critical events: the Holiday Clearing House Food Drive. This initiative provides essential holiday meal items, coats, toys, and pantry staples to local families and seniors in need. With demand reaching record levels, community support is more important than ever.

Supporting Your Neighbors This Holiday Season

Each year, the Holiday Clearing House provides the fixings for a festive holiday meal and other essentials to hundreds of families and senior households across Delaware County. This season, People In Need, Inc. is preparing for their largest distribution yet, and they’re reaching out for specific donations to make it a success. With your help, local families can look forward to a warm, comforting meal and holiday essentials to celebrate the season.

What’s Needed for Holiday Meal Kits

To create complete meal kits, People In Need, Inc. is focusing on a few holiday-specific items. Donations of the following are highly encouraged:

  • Cream of mushroom soup
  • Gravy packets
  • French fried onions
  • Boxed mashed potatoes
  • Boxed stuffing
  • Dessert mixes

These items help form the base of a hearty holiday meal and are in particularly low supply this year. Contributions of any listed items will go directly to families who might otherwise struggle to provide these extras for their celebrations.

Pantry Essentials Needed Year-Round

In addition to holiday meal items, the Clearing House is collecting pantry staples that are crucial for households throughout the season. These essentials include:

  • Cereal
  • Soup
  • Pasta or rice sides
  • Peanut butter and jelly
  • Paper towels
  • Laundry detergent

Additional Donation Opportunities: Coats and Toys for Local Families

This year, People In Need, Inc. welcomes food, coat, and toy donations to ensure families in Delaware County can enjoy a warm, joyful holiday season. Donated coats and toys are especially impactful, helping children and adults alike stay warm and experience the magic of the season.

Donation Drop-Off Details:

  • Donations can be made directly at The Coliseum at the Delaware County Fairgrounds on weekdays from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM from Monday, December 2, through Friday, December 13.

How to Donate

If you’re interested in helping out, donations of food items can also be dropped off at the Clearing House warehouse, located at 138 Johnson Drive. The warehouse is open for donations:

  • Monday – Thursday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Friday: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Prefer the convenience of online shopping? The organization offers an Amazon Wishlist, allowing you to purchase much-needed items from home. Each item purchased is shipped directly to the warehouse, ensuring that every donation reaches families quickly and efficiently.

Be Part of Delaware County’s Tradition of Giving

People In Need, Inc. has been a steadfast supporter of local families for years, and the Holiday Clearing House has become a beloved tradition for both volunteers and recipients. This annual food drive is an opportunity for the community to come together, ensuring everyone has the chance to enjoy the warmth and generosity that the holiday season brings.

By contributing, you’re not only helping to fill a plate; you’re filling hearts and making the season brighter for your neighbors.
