On Sunday, April 27 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, the Storytellers of Central Ohio (SOCO) will host their annual Spring Storytelling Concert at the North Unitarian Universalist Congregation (1574 Franklin St, Lewis Center). This free, family-friendly afternoon invites guests of all ages—4 and up—to experience the warmth and wonder of live storytelling.

Attendees will enjoy captivating stories told by some of Ohio’s most talented tellers, both amateur and professional. To set the mood, the concert opens with live music by beloved folk musician Bill Cohen, whose rich blend of song and storytelling adds another layer of heart to the event.

🎶 Stories That Stick, Music That Moves

SOCO’s concerts are more than entertainment—they’re about connection. Through personal tales, folktales, and music, the concert celebrates the universal power of story to inspire, teach, and build community. Whether you’re a child hearing your first tall tale or an adult reminiscing about the stories of your youth, this event offers something to stir the imagination.

Admission is free, but donations are welcomed and deeply appreciated. All proceeds will support SOCO’s Summer Literacy Program, Columbus Story Adventures, which distributes free books to children—bringing the magic of stories to even more homes across Central Ohio.

📚 SOCO: A Community of Tellers and Listeners

Founded to celebrate and support the art of storytelling, SOCO is a vibrant group of individuals who gather regularly to share stories, swap advice, and grow the storytelling tradition. In addition to the Spring Concert, SOCO hosts beloved events like Fireside Tales and Tellabration at the Ohio History Connection. The group also connects members with national storytelling networks, resources, and festival opportunities.

So if you’re looking for laughter, learning, and a little bit of magic, join SOCO on April 27 and be part of a tradition that celebrates the oldest—and perhaps most powerful—art form there is: storytelling.
