If you have already enjoyed the season’s concerts from the Central Ohio Symphony and the Delaware Community Chorus, this one flips the script. Arena Fair is inviting the community to become the choir itself.
On Friday, December 19, voices will fill Zion UCC Church at 51 W. Central Avenue for an old-fashioned Christmas Carol Sing-Along. The evening begins at 7:00 PM and is designed to be relaxed, welcoming, and joyfully participatory.
What to expect inside Zion UCC
This is not a sit-back-and-applaud kind of night. Attendees are encouraged to sing along to familiar Christmas classics, request favorite carols, and enjoy the shared experience of communal music-making. Between group singing, several of Arena Fair’s standout soloists will offer special performances, adding texture and variety to the evening.
There is no admission charge for the event. A free will offering will be taken, with all proceeds supporting A Place of Warmth, Delaware’s winter warming center. The center is housed at Zion UCC, making the evening both musically and mission-driven in a very literal way.
Why carols still matter
Christmas carols endure because they invite participation. Songs like Silent Night, O Holy Night, and Jingle Bells were written to be sung by everyday people, not just professionals. A sing-along leans into that tradition, reminding us that seasonal music works best when it is shared, a little imperfect, and rooted in community.
For Arena Fair, the night is less about performance and more about connection. For those who attend, it is a chance to step inside the sound of the season and be part of it.
