For many Ohioans, a past mistake can mean years of stalled opportunities. Whether it’s trouble finding housing, landing a job, or simply moving on, a criminal record often follows long after a sentence ends.

On Friday, February 20, a chance to clear that path returns to Delaware County.

From 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, the Delaware County Law Library will host a free Criminal Record Sealing and Expungement Legal Clinic, led by Legal Aid of Southeast and Central Ohio. The event, held at 101 N. Sandusky Street in downtown Delaware, is open to residents who want to explore whether their records can be sealed or expunged—and get help filing the necessary court paperwork.

The clinic is operated in partnership with the Delaware County Public Defenders Office and the Delaware County Law Library. Volunteer attorneys will be on site to assess each attendee’s eligibility, help navigate Ohio’s record sealing laws, and assist with completing applications.

What You Need to Know

  • Pre-registration is strongly encouraged. Call 614-827-0524 or scan the QR code on the flyer to secure a spot.
  • First come, first served. Registering doesn’t guarantee service, but it helps prioritize and manage demand.
  • Not all records are eligible. Individuals currently on probation, community control, or with open court cases will not qualify. OVI and traffic offenses are also not eligible for sealing or expungement under Ohio law.

A side entrance at 10 Court Street offers handicap-accessible access to the venue.

For Legal Aid of Southeast and Central Ohio, this clinic is part of a larger mission: ensuring that income level doesn’t stand in the way of access to justice.

More details are available by calling Legal Aid directly at 740-283-4781.
