At a press conference on Wednesday afternoon, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine made two general annnouncements.
First, the Governor shared that a fourth case of COVID-19/coronavirus has been confirmed in Ohio. Importnatly, this 53 year old man appears to have contracted the virus through “community spread,” that is, not having been involved in foregin travel to heavily infected parts of the world.
Dr. Amy Acton, who participated in the press conference, said that mathematical models show that if two Ohioans have the virus community spread, that a minimum of 1% of citizens are already infected.
Secondly, DeWine announced liminations on nursing home visitation and also stated that previous recommendations discouraging “mass assemblines” of people issued earlier in the week would become an order in the coming days. The Governor did say that K-12 schools would not be closed at the present time.
