Growth is the story this week

From school expansion in Delaware to transportation fights in Delaware County and long-range planning in Worthington, the common thread right now is not hard to spot: growth is no longer a future issue. It is the present tense.

🏫 Delaware: Olentangy moves closer to fifth high school

Why it matters: A new high school is not just a school story. It is a population story, a housing story, and a sign of how quickly the north side of Delaware County continues to evolve.

What happened: Olentangy Local Schools received initial approval for a conditional use request tied to its planned fifth high school on nearly 140 acres along Bunty Station Road west of Sawmill Parkway.

🚗 Delaware County: U.S. 23-I-71 connector debate is heating up

Why it matters: This is one of the most consequential transportation questions in central Ohio, with the potential to influence traffic flow, development patterns, and rural land use for years.

What’s happening: ODOT has put five possible connector routes in front of the public, and residents are already raising concerns about farmland, congestion, and what this could mean for surrounding communities.

🌆 Westerville: City leaders frame the next phase of growth

Why it matters: Westerville is trying to reassure residents that growth does not have to come at the cost of identity, even as new investment and development pressures continue.

The big picture: In its State of the City recap, Westerville emphasized a future built around added jobs and amenities while preserving what officials called the city’s authentic character.

🧭 Worthington: Long-range planning process moves into a new phase

Why it matters: Comprehensive planning rarely gets splashy headlines, but it often determines what redevelopment, land use, and neighborhood change will look like down the road.

What’s next: Worthington says its Worthington Together process is entering another public-input phase this spring as officials work toward draft principles and land-use direction for key parts of the city.

🏗️ Dublin: Dublin keeps pushing forward on major growth plans

Why it matters: Dublin is continuing to position itself aggressively for future expansion, especially in innovation, mixed-use development, and destination-scale projects.

What to watch: City leaders have highlighted new land in the West Innovation District, more Bridge Street momentum, Riverview Village development, and vision planning tied to a future sports and recreation campus.
