A major retail project is taking shape on Powell’s south side. Construction is underway on The Shoppes at Wedgewood, a 43,000-square-foot retail center rising next to Target at 10560 Sawmill Parkway.
The development sits on 6.1 acres of what had been vacant land, now transformed into a single-floor shopping complex designed to meet growing demand in one of Liberty Township’s busiest corridors.
A Growing Retail Hub
The Shoppes at Wedgewood will join an already thriving cluster of businesses that includes Target, Blue Sky Carwash, WesBanco, Tire Discounters, Taco Bell, and Skyline Chili. With high visibility and traffic from Sawmill Parkway, the new center is positioned to become a key destination for shoppers in Powell and surrounding areas.
Developers have planned 311 on-site parking spaces and multiple suite sizes ranging from 1,600 to 20,000 square feet, giving flexibility for restaurants, retailers, and service-based businesses.
Tenants Already Secured
As of August 2025, half of the retail units have been leased. Among the first wave of tenants are:
- Zaytoon Mediterranean Grill – 1,815 square feet
- Tierra Encantada (Spanish immersion child care) – 11,365 square feet
- Kidz Zone – 2,630 square feet
- Sweetly Bronzed – 1,702 square feet
- Nails of New Albany (operating under a new name in Powell) – 3,359 square feet
These businesses reflect a mix of dining, childcare, recreation, and personal services, broadening what’s available in the Powell market.
What Could Be Next
Several additional concepts are in discussion for the center’s remaining space, including an international grocery store, a pilates or yoga studio, a café-bakery, a medical office, and a meal-prep business.
Together, these tenants would create a well-rounded shopping experience, appealing to both families and professionals living in the area.
A Sign of Powell’s Retail Growth
The Shoppes at Wedgewood represents one of the more significant commercial investments in Powell’s south side in recent years. With Liberty Township continuing to see residential growth, retail developers are betting on the demand for convenient dining, childcare, and specialty services close to home.
Construction is expected to move quickly, with the first tenants preparing for build-out later this year. When completed, the center will mark another step in shaping Sawmill Parkway into a vibrant retail corridor.
