Big Walnut High School’s boys varsity tennis team has done it again.

The Golden Eagles are Ohio Capital Conference champions for the third consecutive season, completing a three-peat built not only on wins, but on command. Big Walnut finished OCC play undefeated, extended its conference match winning streak to 20, and did not drop a single court in league matches.

A title won across the lineup

The championship-clinching moment came with a 5-0 win over Westland, a result that reflected the team’s season-long strength from top to bottom. At that point, Big Walnut stood at 13-3 overall and unbeaten across all courts in league play.

For Head Coach Ryan Balaz, the 2026 title continues a strong run for the program. Big Walnut also won the OCC championship in 2024 and 2025, with last year’s team finishing league play at 6-0 on the way to a second straight title.

Three years, one standard

Sustaining a championship run over three seasons requires more than one strong class or one standout player. It takes depth, steady preparation, and the kind of competitive consistency that shows up match after match.

This year’s Eagles delivered exactly that. Their ability to sweep league opponents without surrendering a court speaks to a complete roster, with singles and doubles players alike contributing to a season that now stands among the program’s most impressive achievements.

The 2026 Eagles

Congratulations to Head Coach Ryan Balaz and the Big Walnut players who helped bring another OCC championship to Sunbury:

For Big Walnut boys tennis, the message is simple: three straight OCC titles, 20 straight conference match wins, and a championship standard that continues to rise.
