Learn About Regenerative Agriculture

The folks at Stratford Ecological Center are hosting classes on Regenerative Agriculture as their 2021 Farm Series for Adults.

The series will present Stratford’s farmer, Jeff Dickinson, as well as other experts in an exploration of the principles and practices of a healthy food system. Whether you are interested in farming or would simply like to learn more about food agriculture, this series will take you “behind the scenes” for a first-hand experience on a real working farm.

Still Time To Register For Birds, Blooms & Breakfast

If you hurry, you can still beat the registration deadline for “Birds, Blooms & Breakfast” at the Stratford Ecological Center.

At the event you can enjoy an early May bird concert of sounds while walking the trails in small groups, each led by experienced birders. It’s the ideal time of year to enjoy the birds as well as the amazing wildflowers there.

Coffee, sweet treats, and boxed breakfast will be served. There are two serving times. For current biders, the “Prime Time” session is advised — 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM. For more novice birders and those who don’t like to rise at the crack of dawn, the “Not Quite Ready for Prime Time” contingent takes place from 8:15 AM to 10:10 AM. More…

Stratford Ecological Center Co-Founder Given Statewide Honor

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) has awarded the state’s highest conservation honor to three individuals for their outstanding contributions to the protection and enjoyment of Ohio’s natural resources.

Inducted into the Ohio Natural Resources Hall of Fame were husband and wife conservationists Clyde Gosnell and Dr. Louise (Omie) Warner of Ashville and water quality and scenic rivers advocate Mike Fremont of Glendale.

Dr. Warner, together with her late husband, founded the Stratford Ecological Center in Delaware.

“Ohio is fortunate to have so many committed conservationists with a deep passion for educating and including the public in their work,” said ODNR Director Mary Mertz. “Their positive influence will continue to impact our state far into the future.” More…

Updated. With the Earth Day release of Helios, a Rustic Lager brewed with sustainable ingredients, Land-Grant Taproom is proud to continue their annual Sun-Grant series of beers. Named for and inspired by the Sun-Grant Association, a group of land-grant universities that research and develop sustainable and environmentally friendly bio-based energy alternatives, Sun-Grant beers are brewed using sustainable techniques and ingredients.

This year’s beer features local honey from the Stratford Ecological Center near Delaware, Pilsner malt from Haus Malts in Cleveland, Michigan grown Triple Pearl hops and a Kveik yeast strain that ferments at an energy efficient lower temperature. More…
