Richland Countians have a variety of opinions about the white stuff that falls from the sky each winter.

Whatever your own personal view might be, it’s clearly time to get ready for snow, as this week’s weather forecast is calling for central Ohio’s first snowfall — and accumulation — of the season.

On Sunday afternoon, the National Weather Service in Wilmington issued a Winter Weather Advisory for a wide area of Ohio, including for here in Delaware County. A low pressure system will move northeast, creating the conditions for snow from west to east on Monday and Monday night.

The Advisory is in effect from Noon on Monday to Noon on Tuesday.

Total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches are expected. Travel may be differently, with hazardous conditions — including strong winds — impacting morning and evening commutes.

Rain will mix with then change to snow Monday afternoon. Snow accumulations on Monday will be mainly confined to grassy and elevated surfaces as pavement and air temperatures will start out above freezing. As temperatures drop below freezing Monday night, slick spots will develop on untreated surfaces. Snow is expected to taper off by Tuesday afternoon.

The National Weather Service reminds you that the latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1. Ohgo.com is also updated with the latest traffic conditions.

We will share any updates or revisions to this Advisory as they are issued.
