At its meeting this coming Monday evening, Delaware City Council will hear an update on the City’s Downtown Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA) program.

That overview will include suggestions for changes for 2021.

Under consideration will be a proposal to expand the types of alcoholic beverages which can be consumed during a DORA event, as well as boundaries and hours changes. Based on experiences the City has had over three years of the project, the following is proposed:

  • Addition of “mixed beverages and spirituous liquor”
  • Expansion to “pick up” Spring Street and the sidewalk directly on the south side of Spring Street
  • Creating standard hours — seven days a week, 11 AM to midnight

A public hearing will be held on this proposal, with a resolution adopting the new application also on the agenda.

The DORA will be in place this weekend; its hours are 11 AM to 10 PM on both Saturday and Sunday.

Monday’s meeting will be held at 7 PM virtually. It can be viewed at this location.
