Over the last 200 years, Delaware County has produced more than its fair share of statewide governmental leaders.

This is certainly true in the many local citizens who volunteer their time to serve on boards, commissions, and councils that operate under the Governor’s Office. Governor DeWine recently made appointments and reappointments to several of those bodies, five o which involve county residents.

Those appointments include the following:

Dianne Jones of Ostrander (Delaware County) has been reappointed to the State Veterinary Medical Licensing Board for a term beginning Jan. 1, 2022, and ending Dec. 31, 2024.

Richard Fred Hillis of Powell (Delaware County) has been appointed to the Ohio History Connection Board of Trustees for a term beginning Dec. 10, 2021 and ending June 26, 2024.

Stephen Buehrer of Powell (Delaware County) has been reappointed to the Oil and Gas Land Management Commission for a term beginning Dec. 1, 2021 and ending Sept. 29, 2026.

Melissa A. Schiffel of Galena (Delaware County) has been appointed to the Ohio Collaborative Community-Police Advisory Board for a term beginning Dec. 10, 2021 and ending April 29, 2022.

Tracy L. Smith of Lewis Center (Delaware County) has been reappointed to the State Fire Council for a term beginning Dec. 10, 2021 and ending November 1, 2026.
