Delaware’s Food Truck Depot, located at 59 Potter St., has recently changed hands and is now being rebranded as Sand Bar Station.

The new owners, who are also the team behind Shorty’s Pizza and O’Nelly’s Pub, took over the space previously leased by Homestead Beer Co. They are now revitalizing the venue as a bustling food truck hub while preserving its popular beach volleyball scene.

The origins of the Food Truck Depot date back to 2018, when the 150-year-old train station freight depot was transformed into a unique project in downtown Delaware. The venue officially opened in June 2019 with a mission to provide a fun, family-friendly environment complete with great food, drinks, and entertainment. Activities at the depot included sand volleyball, live music, yard games, and more.

The new Sand Bar Station aims to recapture the spirit of the original Food Truck Depot and build upon its successful formula. Paul Rockwell, who first established the venue as a hotspot for local food trucks and beach volleyball, would be pleased to see its evolution.

In addition to hosting food trucks, the Sand Bar Station owners are constructing a new outdoor stage to accommodate regular live music performances, with a planned debut in mid-May. This will be the first full outdoor stage in the area, setting Sand Bar Station apart from other local patios.

With these new developments, Sand Bar Station is set to become a must-visit destination for food, fun, and entertainment in Delaware. The volleyball leagues will continue at Sand Bar Station, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the revamped food truck and live music venue is scheduled for late May.
