Liberty Township’s new Township Administrator has hit the ground running. Kevin Vaughn started in his new position on May 8.

The Administrator is responsible for the daily management and oversight of Township operations. Over the last several months, Assistant Fiscal Officer Lee Ann Weer has been in this role as Interim Administrator. Through Lee Ann’s leadership and commitment to improving the Township services, both externally and internally, the new Administrator is coming into a stable and highly productive environment. We are looking forward to a seamless transition and a continued high level of services to our residents and businesses.

Vaughn graphicVaughn assumes this role with over three decades of municipal experience, 10 years as an administrator. Most recently, he served as the Township Administrator for Berkshire Township. As Township Administrator, Vaughn will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Township and will serve as the liaison between the residents, businesses, developers, employees, and the trustees.

“Every checkbox that the Trustees were looking for in a Township Administrator were checked with Kevin. He brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the area of Township government with him to Liberty. Liberty Township is, and has been, one of the fastest growing communities in Ohio and we are very excited to have an Administrator who has experience working with the Delaware County and Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commissions as well as with economic development,” said Trustee Chair Bryan Newell. “It is critical to our residents that their Township Administrator is ready, willing and able to take a leading role in economic development and planning, and the Board of Trustees believe Kevin is that Administrator.”

“I am honored to be selected as Liberty Township’s next Township Administrator,” said Vaughn. “I am excited to work with the trustees, staff, businesses, and the community as a whole to continue the long tenured success of the township.”

Prior to his time with Berkshire Township, Vaughn was the Administrator for Clinton Township and Plain City. Vaughn worked for the City of Dublin and, before that, was a firefighter and EMT for twelve years in the Cleveland area. Kevin holds a certificate from The Ohio State University in Sports Turf Management and is an Ohio Certified Economic Developer.

Recently, Liberty Township completed its new Administrative Offices and Township Hall building project and is currently building a new Fire Station on Liberty Road and a modernized and centralized Parks and Road Services Maintenance Facility. Vaughn provides much needed expertise in this area as he was part of the construction process for a 40,000 square foot police, fire, and administration facility in Clinton Township. In addition, Liberty Township is in the process of updating its Comprehensive Plan and evaluating the Township’s Zoning Department in order to provide more efficient and effective services to residents, businesses, builders and developers. This is an area in which Vaughn is familiar and will be able to quickly oversee as he has an established relationship with regional planning commissions and has improved zoning staffing models and zoning services in his previous positions.
