The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) has announced the availability of approximately $13 million in grant funding through the Clean Ohio Conservation Fund, aimed at preserving natural areas and protecting water resources across Central Ohio.
The funding is divided between two districts, with separate allocations and timelines designed to support both local and regional conservation priorities.
In District 3, which covers Franklin County, approximately $10 million is available for Fiscal Year 2027 projects. Eligible applicants include local governments, park districts, and nonprofit conservation organizations. Preliminary applications are due June 1, 2026, with final applications due August 28, 2026.
District 17, a multi-county region that includes Delaware County, Union County, Pickaway County, Fairfield County, Knox County, and Licking County, will have approximately $3 million available. This funding is intended to support projects that connect natural areas and expand public access to outdoor spaces. Final applications for District 17 are due September 18, 2026.
“The Clean Ohio Conservation Fund remains a vital tool for ensuring that Central Ohio’s growth is balanced with the protection of our most sensitive natural resources,” said Jessica Kuenzli, MORPC Chief Regional Planning Officer. “By securing this $13 million in funding, our local partners can continue to preserve the waterways and open spaces that define our region’s character and improve the quality of life for every resident.”
Jennifer Hufford of the Ohio Public Works Commission added that the program plays a key role in protecting green space and stream corridors for public use, particularly within Franklin County.
The Clean Ohio Green Space Conservation Program, administered by the Ohio Public Works Commission, is a competitive grant initiative. Projects are evaluated by local Natural Resources Assistance Councils based on their ability to preserve natural landscapes, restore degraded areas, and enhance biodiversity.
