The current Stay at Home Order issued by the Ohio Department of Health has resulted in some Ohioans seeing fewer caregivers and relatives each day. For seniors and those who are not ambulatory, this can result in feelings of isolation and worries about security.

The City of Powell is making a difference for such residents.

If you are a resident with the City of Powell and a senior citizen, live alone, or have a medical condition which prevents you from leaving your home, you can now call the Powell Police Department and request a Well-Being House Check. You may call 614-396-3354 from 8 AM to 5 PM on weekdays to schedule your house check.

A police officer will come to your house once a day (between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM), to check on you and make sure you are receiving the services you need. The officer will call you and/or knock on your door. Please respond but maintain the recommended six-foot distance. To avoid spreading the virus, the officer will not come into your home, but will talk to you from your porch.

This option will be available throughout the COVID-19 Stay at Home Order issued by the State of Ohio.
